Rollo needs a home

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

This love came by to visit me today. He’s been at the Humane Society a long time and is ready to be loved by a permanent family.

* * *

Rollo is a 7month old American Pit Bull Terrier puppy that came to HSSW in the fall is a tiny little puppy. While all the other puppies in the shelter found new families immediately, Rollo did not and stayed at HSSW until he was about 3months old. He was finally adopted but ended up coming back a couple months later because his new family was moving and could not take them with him. Rollo is now in foster care through Must Love Dogs where he has a doggy girlfriend to play with and is learning manners from his foster family. Rollo will be an excellent companion for a leader who has experience with APBT’s and is willing to take the time to further train him. Rollo is eager to please, he already knows “sit”, “down” and is quickly learning “settle”. When given regular exercise, Rollo walks very well on a leash and would definitely be an awesome running or hiking buddy!  He couldn’t be more loveable. He freely gives wet kisses, tail wags and will immediately start snoring when cuddled up on the couch to watch a movie!

In need of homes…

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

These are some of our Humane Society friends who need loving homes.

*******************************************

Devi – Bluetick Coonhound / Bloodhound / Mixed (medium coat) :: Female :: Adult

Devi has lived a hard life, getting passed around from family to family, and no one understood big hounds! She needs a strong leader who will walk her daily, play with her and keep her safe. Devi needs a securely fenced yard so she wont follow her nose and wander. In addition, Devi needs to be the only pet, she deserves all the love and attention for herself! A home with children over the age of 6 would be best for Devi since she is a shy dog who takes a while to adjust to new situations. Devi appears to be housetrained, bonds quickly with gentle people and would just love to go home and play today! This sweetheart is loyal and true, ask an adoption counselor how you can adopt Devi!

Dutchess - Labrador Retriever / Chow Chow / Mixed (medium coat) :: Female :: Senior

Hi, I’m Dutchess!  I’m a sweet senior Lab and Chow mix and I’m looking to finally get the home I deserve.  I’ve been in a home my whole life who has kept me outdoors a lot and fed me a really low-quality food.  For that reason, my skin got really bad.  I’m on a good food now and am getting better, with love and TLC, I’m sure you won’t even recognize me in a month!  I do ask that my new home makes me the only pet, I promise I’m worth it.  Please also have a fenced yard, I love to lay out and sunbathe.  I’m a super sweet gal who already is housetrained and knows my basic commands.  Find out why Senior pets are the best!

Tella the bunny!

Flemish Giant Rabbit Mix

Tella

Hi there! My name is Tella. I am a very sweet two-year-old, neutered, Flemish Giant Rabbit mix. My previous owners could no longer care for me due to their health so they brought me to the Humane Society to find a new home. I am litter box trained in and out of my cage. My previous owners let me roam the house when they were home and I enjoyed this very much! My most favorite treats are broccoli and carrots and I absolutely love to have my face rubbed. If you are looking for a new companion, come down and meet me. I am a sweet boy looking for a forever home with you.

Matzo found a home!

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I was absolutely over the moon to receive an email from a woman who adopted Matzo just before Christmas. What a wonderful Christmas gift for all involved! Matzo’s new mom sent this image she took and note:

Lara,I must tell you the picture DID help.  I had been in several times with a friend in search of a dog for her family.  I had played with Matzo and been so impressed with him.  When we decided to look for ourselves I went on the website and there he was.  The picture was so wonderful and really captured his softest side (especially given he is a Pit Bull).  We have told everyone to log on and look at him.  We can’t get over how well he has adjusted to our home.  He is just a love and so sweet. He is very gentle with Ruffles (our very old dog) as well.  Thank you for helping get Matzo to us.  We are truly blessed.  I will look forward to the picture and again, Thank You!  Merry Christmas!

Let me tell you, that MADE MY YEAR…and it made me realize the power of imagery when adopting animals.

You will be seeing a lot more of it this year!

Happy New Year, friends!!!

bump

Via.

We didn’t have water at the Blair house for two days this week. Something evil was happening with our well, or the electrical wire, we’re not sure. It’s still not officially fixed, but never fear, we have showered! We got above ground wiring to tide us over…barring any small rodents or soccer balls interfering with the wire spaghetti in the backyard.

Sheesh!

When things like this happen it really makes you appreciate the simplest things. Glasses of water quickly became glasses of diamonds around here. Nothing like rinsing your toothbrush with a spray bottle…tons of fun!

In good news…MATZO GOT ADOPTED!!!! We couldn’t be more thrilled….

Matzo needs a home

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Jayme from the SW WA Humane Society brought Matzo, a sweet Pit, to the studio for some images today. What a GREAT dog! It made Jayme and me so sad…he didn’t seem like he’d ever been in a car before or seen a set of stairs. He “combat-crawled” into my studio so timidly. It made me all misty eyed to think that he’s been in the shelter for six months without a family. Below we’ve got his letter to Santa.

Dear Santa~

Hi you may not know me but my name is Matzo. I’ve been hanging out in the shelter looking for my forever home. I am only TWO years old and have a lot of LOVE to give. I’m not asking for much just a home with a fenced yard and possibly a girl dog to play with. I just want to snuggle with someone SO much. I have been such a GOOD DOG this year and the people here even think so because one of them got me my very own collar that says it. I have been learning lots of new tricks I can sit, lay down and even commando crawl. My friend and I have been working on even more tricks like, rollover and shake. I have been waiting so patiently for the almost SIX months. Do you think you could find me a forever home for Christmas? I would just love to have a family to sit by the fire with!

Lots of Kisses,

Matzo

P.S. Santa I don’t really like cats all that much so a home without cats would be best!
